Shortly before the “decision game” against Italy, the German team plagues personnel problems. National coach Gislason acts.

Personnel setbacks before the “final”: Germany’s handball players will have to get along in the pioneering World Cup round round against Italy on Thursday (from 6 p.m. in the live ticker at T-Online) without playmaker Juri Knorr and left wing rune Dahmke. As the DHB announced on Thursday, the middle man of the Rhein-Neckar Löwen and the wing player from the THW Kiel suffered from flu infections.

Knorr had already complained about sore throat on Tuesday after the 30:40 defeat against world champion Denmark and did not give any interviews after the first tournament defeat. Like Knorr, Dahmke has already moved into a single room in the team hotel.

National coach Alfred Gislason called on Thursday in Marian Michalczik an 18th player about the so -called “Late Entry”. According to the DHB, the middle man of TSV Hannover-Burgdorf is expected in the evening in the team quarters in Silkeborg and is likely to be an option in the third main round game against Tunisia in Herning (Saturday from 8.30 p.m. in the live ticker at T-online).

Left-handed Franz Semper is available as a KNORR replacement for the Italy. The Leipziger is already the entire tournament as a 17th player at the German team, but has not been used so far due to slight muscular problems. The 16-member contingent for the game against Italy has to be decided up to two hours before kick-off. Since Knorr and Dahmke will fail and Michalczik will not be with the team in time, the Germans have to get by with 15 players.

Germany can solve the ticket for the World Cup quarter-finals in Oslo prematurely with a win against surprise team-if Switzerland does not win against Olympic champion Denmark afterwards. If the German team loses, regardless of the last game in main round group 1 against the blatant outsider Tunisia, threatens. The DHB was unable to say whether Knorr and Dahmke will be fit again next Saturday.
