Up to 25 centimeters of snow has fallen in New Orleans. The city’s previous snow record was 6.8 centimeters, and it hasn’t snowed once in the last decade.
The snow chaos in the city was such that it was decided to close the airport and schools. So the NBA match between the New Orleans Pelicans and the Milwaukee Bucks was also postponed.
– The decision was made in cooperation with the local authorities. The safety of players, fans and staff was prioritized due to the hazardous weather conditions in the New Orleans area, The NBA said in its press release.
The new time of the match will be announced later.
In New Orleans, the temperature has even been below freezing, which is quite rare. Normally, the average temperature in January in the city is over 15 degrees.
