The winter transfer phase is underway and the German clubs are in the middle of it. Rumors and fixed changes from the world of football can be found here.

With the beginning of 2025, the transfer window opened in the Bundesliga and other European leagues. In Germany the transfer period ends on February 3rd. After that, players can still move abroad, provided the leagues there have a later transfer deadline.

Which clubs are most in need of reinforcements, what is FC Bayern doing and what is the situation at the top European clubs? These and many other questions will be answered this transfer winter. At t-online you can find an overview of the most important guesses and changes from Germany and the world.

Six months ago, Jan-Niklas Beste moved from 1. FC Heidenheim to Benfica in Lisbon. In Portugal, the left winger hardly gets beyond the joker role. Beste is now being linked to SC Freiburg, who are looking for a new player for the left defensive side. Christian Günter is having a hard time with the new game system and Jordy Makengo hasn’t been completely convincing yet either.

As the “Kicker” and the TV channel Sky report, Beste is therefore a candidate in Breisgau. In addition to Freiburg, Gladbach is also said to be interested.

The 26-year-old was even nominated for the national team in spring 2024, but did not play due to an injury.

Midfielder Jean-Paul Boëtius returns to professional football after a long battle with cancer. The Dutchman, who had been without a club for a year and a half, passed the medical check at Darmstadt 98.

“Jean-Paul Boëtius not only brings dynamism and creativity, but above all a great fighting heart. This has also been shown by his personal struggle in recent years,” said sports director Paul Fernie. The Lilies did not provide any information about the duration of the contract.

A testicular tumor was discovered in Boëtius in autumn 2022, and just four weeks later the now 30-year-old was back on the pitch. In March 2023, however, he learned that the illness he had already overcome had spread. Chemotherapy followed for the former professional from Hertha BSC and Mainz 05, and he most recently trained with the U21 team of his hometown club Feyenoord Rotterdam.

VfL Wolfsburg is strengthening itself for the coming season with Australian international Sharn Freier. The 23-year-old offensive player is moving from Brisbane Roar to the German cup winners and has signed a three-year contract.

Freier was on the pitch at both the Olympic Games last summer and an international match against the DFB team in October. “I’m already looking forward to moving to VfL Wolfsburg and am excited about the experience of playing in a league outside of Australia for the first time,” she explained. The prospect of becoming part of such a successful club with numerous top players fills her with pride and gratitude.
