Geert Wilders thinks that Albert Verlinde will do well as the new Wednesday Gijp of Today Inside. “And if he doesn’t do well, who knows, they might think about me again.”
From this year onwards, René van der Gijp will not have a five-day, but a four-day working week at Today Inside. He is free every Wednesday and on those days Albert Verlinde will take his place. During VI’s search, none other than Geert Wilders also suggested: “The program does need some common sense. 😁”
Fat contract
In the end it became Albert. Is Geert angry about that? “Well, not angry, but of course I secretly hoped so,” he says Today Inside. “I had hoped for a big contract that De Mol would call, but he didn’t call me.”
“I thought: well, every Wednesday, nice, I also have a reason to leave here on time on Wednesday and do something else. But yes, there is someone else now (Albert, ed.) and I also think he will do very well. And if he doesn’t do well, who knows, they might think about me again.”
All or nothing
The arrival of Albert, who has a very shady neighbor, is embraced by many viewers. Reporter Merel Ek wonders whether Wilders will come to the show again. “They are still waiting for an answer from you, because they still want you to come by sometime.”
Geert: “Yes, but my answer was not to come by once, but to come by every Wednesday.”
Merel: “So it’s every Wednesday or not at all?”
Geert: “Every Wednesday.”
No shit
Then Geert lets us know that he would like to visit again. “No, I will definitely come by again. I like it enough. But my offer was a contract, a big contract, a big contract and then every Wednesday.”
SP celebrity Renske Leijten in the studio: “Of course he doesn’t deserve anything in that House of Representatives. A little extra support is necessary.”
Wilfred Genee: “I think he is at 127 thousand. That’s not all bad of course.”
