The deceased Matti Nykänen the jumpsuit is on sale at a ridiculous price.

Auction room named Aleksi on the website for sale is a jumpsuit that is said to be from the late 1980s and the only one that has survived to this day. Two autographs in a white and pink jumpsuit.

The auction started on Monday. At the time of writing the story on Wednesday, 220 euros have been asked for the jumpsuit.

– I thought that in this market the price could be 500–1,000 euros. In the international market, the price would be different because there are enough collectors, CEO of Huutokauppahuone Aleksi Same Background comment.

According to Taustila, the jumpsuit was on display in the now closed DD pub in Tampere, where Nykänen was a customer. Relatives of the late pub owner submitted the suit for auction.

The background revealed that it is a real rarity.

– I went through the sports museums in Finland. They didn’t have any Nykänen jumpsuits in their collections. I was told that 1980s jumpsuits are really rare. Not many of them have survived.

Nykänen’s suit for sale has two autographs, one of which was rusted in the 1980s, perhaps right after the jump. The second one was worn by the sports legend in 2013.

The jumpsuit has seen life, so to speak.

– Matti may have celebrated in this suit. There is a spot on the back that has been pinched or torn. It’s a hand-thick spot, and there’s a small bloodstain on the suit.

There isn’t

The ski museum has other athletes’ jump suits, but not Nykänen’s. Collection amanuence Laura Häkkinen haven’t come across that in a few years either.

According to Häkkinen, the athletes have not necessarily considered jump suits as important as skis or medals. Textiles don’t last as well either.

– Many people have numbered vests in storage, but the competition outfit could be considered a work outfit.
