Nuri Şahin is criticized at Borussia Dortmund. The BVB coach also missed the turnaround in Bologna. Managing director Lars Ricken then commented.
BVB boss Lars Ricken has avoided a clear commitment to the shaky coach Nuri Şahin. After the defeat in Bologna, Borussia’s managing director said on Prime Video: “My expectations after Frankfurt were clear: we need victories, we need results. Now we have won once in nine games.”
Ricken has a very trusting and good relationship with Şahin and the coach always has his back. “But of course my statements stand and accordingly you will not be informed of a decision from me in Italy based on emotion, from the hip.”
After the defeat in Frankfurt (0-2), Ricken said: “It is his (Nuri Şahin, editor’s note) and our responsibility that we have to get the best out of Borussia. Nuri will be on the bench in Bologna sit with the clear expectation that we now need victories and experiences of success.”
Such a victory has now failed to materialize in Bologna. “We’ll go home tomorrow and sit down together in peace. We all just want the best for Borussia Dortmund and then we’ll discuss what’s best and what the solutions are to get us back on the road to success,” explained Ricken thoughtfully .
But the decision should be made soon. Şahin himself will probably be expecting his exit. The 36-year-old says: “It’s not about me personally. I’m responsible for the sporting performance. I’m also responsible for that. Of course I know how business works. The only thing important to me is that Borussia Dortmund is successful.”
