Now the band’s history is to be celebrated with a tour entirely under the motto “Lynyrd Skynyrd – Celebrating 50 Years”.
Lynyrd Skynyrd is coming to Germany for six concerts
Starting with a concert in Munich on June 30th, Lynyrd Skynyrd will also tour Germany and play a total of six gigs in various German cities:

How three teenagers became Lynyrd Skynyrd
More than 50 years after the release of their debut album, “Pronounced ‘Lĕh-‘nérd ‘Skin-‘nérd,” Lynyrd Skynyrd continues to delight a cross-generational, global fan base. The band was founded in the 1960s by teenagers Ronnie Van Zant, Bob Burns and Gary Rossington. A short time later, guitarist Allen Collins and bassist Larry Junstrom joined the group.
The five began playing to audiences in their hometown of Jacksonville, performing first as My Backyard, then The Noble Five, then The One Percent before settling on the band name Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1969. By the way, this name was inspired by a sports teacher who was known for strictly forbidding long hair on boys.
Lynyrd Skynyrd performs today with a new lineup including Johnny Van Zant, Rickey Medlocke and Damon Johnson as they continue to pay tribute to the band’s original members in their songs.
