Employees of the De Kleine Beurs thrift store in Den Bosch received a very special item last week. Something that looked a lot like a bomb: with three red dynamite sticks, some loose wires and a timer. Owner Willy van Asch saw it in a box. “Put it in my office.”
Once at the office, her colleagues were not entirely happy with Willy’s latest acquisition. “It looked fucking real, but I could tell right away it was fake. It was just a piece of wood.”
Although the owner did not completely trust it. “I looked it up on the internet. But I saw that it is for sale. It is a supporting object of a game.”
“I have more in my office that I don’t want in the store.”
“But I don’t think we should sell this,” she adds. “I have more in my office that I don’t want in the store. It’s actually a small museum.”
The thrift store on Van Broeckhovenlaan regularly receives the craziest objects, Willy knows. “We sometimes receive brass knuckles, knives and air rifles.”
She gives the more dangerous objects to the police. “I also gave this fake bomb to the local police officer. They laughed about it and enjoyed taking it with them.”
