THEJanuary 21, 2025 is a rich day: if on the one hand we celebrate Hug Day, on the other the sky promises a breathtaking astronomical show for this very evening. This is the special positioning of six aligned planets, also visible in Italy. Not a perfect alignment, but a equally unmissable phenomenon for astronomy enthusiasts.

Six planets aligned, a rare astronomical phenomenon

Starting from 7.30pm, the highlight to admire this phenomenon, it will therefore be possible to observe these celestial bodies shining above the Italian horizon. The planets that will dominate the sky will be Jupiter, Mars and Uranus to the southAnd Venus, Saturn and Neptune in the southeast. While not all of them will be easily visible to the naked eye, the celestial event will still offer a fairly unique experience. The visibility of the planets will continue, in any case, for several hours, guaranteeing the show throughout the evening.

The first of many celestial shows

Although the definition of “parade of planets” may seem exaggerated, the event on January 21, 2025 will still be special. And it certainly won’t be the last. Tonight’s show represents just the beginning of a year full of appointments with the universe. In fact, numerous celestial events are expected in the following months. Between solar eclipses, lunar eclipses and other spectacular phenomena, the sky will offer many opportunities for unforgettable observations.

Solar Eclipses

Solar eclipses occur when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, partially or completely blocking out sunlight. In 2025, we will be lucky enough to witness two of these events: the total solar eclipse on March 29 which, however, will be visible mainly in some parts of Central Asia, but can be observed as a partial eclipse in several other regions of the world. AND the partial solar eclipse on September 23rd which will be visible in parts of Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Lunar Eclipses

Regarding lunar eclipsesinstead, which occur when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon, projecting its shadow on the lunar surface, in 2025, there will be two of the most significant: the total lunar eclipse on March 14during which the Moon will take on a reddish color, a phenomenon known as the “Blood Moon”, which will be visible in much of North America, Europe and Africa. AND, the partial lunar eclipse on September 7 That it will be visible in many parts of the world, including Italy. In this case, only part of the Moon will be obscured by the Earth’s shadow, creating a suggestive effect.

Six planets aligned: prepare for observation

To fully enjoy the celestial show tonight, January 21, 2025, it is advisable to find a place away from city lightswhere the sky is darker and clearer. Using a telescope or binoculars can improve observation, allowing you to better distinguish planets. Furthermore, It is always useful to consult the weather forecast to choose the best time for observation.
