These A-listers are coming to Trump’s inauguration – and this one isn’t
Donald Trump will be inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on Monday. The event has become an easy way for the rich and powerful to curry favor with the new government. Trump’s inaugural committee has raised around $200 million since his election victory, reported the New York Times. And adds that major donors will be placed on a waiting list or told they cannot receive VIP tickets. We list which celebrities, politicians and celebs are coming to Trump’s inauguration. And which ones don’t.
The ceremony will be particularly exclusive considering Trump announced Friday that it will be held in the US Capitol Rotunda. And not in front of the building that the president-elect’s supporters violently attacked four years ago. Trump cited the weather forecast, which predicted freezing temperatures and a single-digit wind chill.
The forecast won’t stop the makers from going on the weekend and on the day of Inauguration to appear in Washington, DC to demonstrate their loyalty to the President. Here you will find an overview of who will take part – and who will not.
Great tech decision makers
Silicon Valley will be represented in full force. Which isn’t surprising considering that Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook and other big names donated $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund. The heads of Amazon, Meta and Apple will all be present at Trump’s swearing-in. Wsame as Alphabet CEO Sundar PichaiOpenAI CEO Sam Altman and of course Elon Musk.
The CEO of TikTok Shou Zi Chewwill also be present. Which underscores Trump’s desire to save the Chinese-owned platform popular with young people.
“I don’t understand it,” Sen. Mark Warner said of Trump’s invitation to the TikTok CEO (CNN). And pointed to bipartisan legislation banning the app. “Eighty percent of Congress – Democrats and Republicans – agreed that TikTok poses a major national security problem. I can’t imagine a potentially more powerful propaganda tool.”
Chew is expected to attend at least three other celebrations surrounding the inauguration, and TikTok is sponsoring an inauguration party on Sunday evening.
Democrats
Dozens of Democratic lawmakers boycotted Trump’s first inauguration in 2017. The opposition will not be as strong this year. Or at least not as clear as to why they won’t attend. But there are still some notable names skipping the event. (Alexandria Ocasio Cortez however, has made very clearwhy she won’t take part. “I don’t celebrate rapists,” she said in an Instagram post the night before the inauguration.)
Nancy Pelosithe former House speaker who regularly attacks Trump, will not be in attendance, her spokesman confirmed Thursday. Also the former first lady Michelle Obama will not be present. However, her husband, who sat next to Trump at Jimmy Carter’s funeral earlier this month, will be in attendance. “The former president Barack Obama has confirmed that he will attend the 60th Inauguration celebrations,” Barack and Michelle Obama’s office said in a statement. “Former First Lady Michelle Obama will not attend the upcoming inauguration.”
George W Bush and Laura Bush will participate, as well Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton.
The New York mayor Eric Adams will also be present. Adams, who faced federal charges last year, has become friends with Trump in recent months. He traveled to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Trump on Friday. And insisted his legal problems were not discussed. “President Trump and I had a productive conversation about the needs of New York and what is best for our city. And how the federal government can play a more helpful role in improving the lives of New Yorkers,” Adams said.
musician
The music industry is largely anti-Trump. But there are still many high-profile artists taking part in the inauguration celebrations will participate. Carrie Underwood will sing “America the Beautiful” during the swearing-in ceremony, while the opera singers Christopher Macchio the national anthem starts. Underwood’s LGBTQ fans are not exactly pleased about her willingness to honor Trump’s second term. Underwood reasoned that “we must all come together in a spirit of unity and look to the future.”
Lee GreenwoodTrump’s Bible-believing partnerwill sing the Trump anthem “God Bless the USA.”
Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, Billy Ray Cyrus, Gavin DeGraw, Parker McCollum, Nelly and Kid Rock will also appear at events surrounding the ceremony. The Village Peoplewhose anthem “YMCA” was adopted by Trump, will perform at several events. How the Wall Street Journal reportedbecomes Snoop Dogg perform at the first Crypto Ball.
Famous people
The Trump-loving influencers Jake Paul and Logan Paul were spotted at Emancipation Hall before Trump’s inauguration. Just like the boxer Conor McGregor.
world politician
Trump has invited several heads of state from around the world to attend his inauguration. One of them was the Chinese president Xi Jinpingwho spoke to Trump by phone on Friday. Xi will not be present. But Vice President Han Zheng will be there. Italy’s right-wing head of government Giorgia Meloni was the only European Union head of state to receive an invitation. It is unclear whether she will attend. The British Conservative Nigel Farage however, will be present. As does Argentina’s right-wing president Javier Milei. The former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro was also invited, but the Supreme Court of Brazil rejected his request for the temporary reinstatement of his passport awayso he could travel to the United States to participate. Bolsonaro’s passport was confiscated last year as part of several investigations. Among other things, because of an alleged attempt to stay in power after the 2022 election defeat.
Viktor Orbanthe Hungarian authoritarian whom Trump frequently praises, will not attend.
Flags in full gear
It has long been a tradition for American flags to fly at half-mast for a month following the death of a former president. Jimmy Carter died late last month, and the Biden administration has said Trump’s inauguration will not stand in the way of that tradition. Trump was not pleased and wrote on Truth Social that “no one wants to see this” and that “no American can be happy about it.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson, one of Trump’s favorites in Congress, responded by saying orderedthat flags at the Capitol will be flown at full strength during Trump’s inauguration. Several Republican governors — including Greg Abbott of Texas, Ron DeSantis of Florida and Kay Ivey of Alabama — have also ordered flags to be flown at full capacity on Trump’s special day.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat whom Trump has relentlessly attacked, including as the wildfires devastated Los Angeles, joins his Republican counterparts and ordered flags in Sacramento to be flown at full length during Trump’s inauguration.
Jan. 6 rioters: at Trump’s inauguration
Trump has long praised his supporters who stormed the Capitol four years ago, calling them “patriots” and “hostages.” And announces that he will pardon her. It’s understandable, then, that some of them want to travel to Washington, DC, to see their potential savior be sworn into office.
Last week granted a judge gave William Pope permission to do just that. Population is accused of vandalism”.
Russell Taylor, currently on parole in California after pleading guilty to obstruction of an official proceeding, wasn’t so lucky. Earlier this month, Judge Royce Lamberth denied Taylor’s request to leave California to attend the inauguration. He noted that Taylor “brought a knife and a body armor to the Capitol and carried a backpack containing a hatchet and a stun baton.” And that he overcame police barriers, encouraged other rioters to push against a police line in which officers were visibly attacked, joined the push himself and repeatedly threatened police.
Taylor may not be able to attend the inauguration. But Trump could soon let him off the hook.
