Maestro of Vaasa Sport Atro Leppänen26, set the single-game point record for defensemen in the Norwegian Hockey League on Saturday.

Leppänen collected power points 3+3. Tappara has previously been able to score six points in one match Pekka Laksola (1+5) in January 1989 and HIFK’s Pertti Lehtonen (0+6) in October 1988.

Leppänen scored more goals than Laksola and Lehtonen, which is why Leppänen takes the top spot in the statistics.

However, the worst night in history was not enough for Leppänen to be selected as the number one star of the match. The number one star of the alumni stars was chosen as a respectable two goal scorer Okko Kangasniemi.

The star selections for league matches have caused confusion earlier this season. In December in Lappeenranta, a SaiPa player was chosen as the first star, who had been sent off in the second period for a tackle on the head.

At the end of the season, the players with the most alumni stars of each league club are awarded.
