Bad riots cause unrest before the second division clash HSV against Cologne. Hooligans attacked other fans.

These scenes are astonishing. Before the top second division game between Hamburger SV and 1. FC Köln in the evening (from 8.30 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online) there were riots in downtown Hamburg. HSV hoolligans seemingly innocently attacked Cologne fans and beat them, as can be seen in videos on social networks.

As a spokesman for the Hamburg police situation service confirmed to t-online, there was a fight between members of both fan camps on Friedrichstrasse near the Reeperbahn in Sankt Pauli on Saturday afternoon. It is still unclear whether there were any injuries.

In a video snippet you can clearly see how masked people storm towards a bar – which is supposed to be the “Rutsche” – and attack the Cologne fans with fists and kicks. Female fans can also be seen among those attacked, trying to escape inside the pub.

In the end, quick intervention by the police probably prevented anything worse from happening. The clubs have not yet commented on the riots.
