William Van De Velde of the lingerie empire of the same name died at the age of 100: “His ideas caused a revolution”

William Van De Velde, one of the pioneers of the Van De Velde lingerie company from Schellebelle (Wichelen), has died at the age of 100. He led the company, which grew from a small corset workshop with a few stitchers into a global multinational. “His idea for elastic fabrics led to a small revolution,” he said.
