The winter transfer phase is underway and the German clubs are in the middle of it. Rumors and fixed changes from the world of football can be found here.
With the beginning of 2025, the transfer window opened in the Bundesliga and other European leagues. In Germany the transfer period ends on February 3rd. Players can then move abroad if the leagues there have a later transfer deadline.
Which clubs are most in need of reinforcements, what is FC Bayern doing and what is the situation at the top European clubs? These and many other questions will be answered this transfer winter. At t-online you can find an overview of the most important guesses and changes from Germany and the world.
Top striker Omar Marmoush is missing from Eintracht Frankfurt’s squad for the home game against Borussia Dortmund. The Hessians are “currently in discussions with another club regarding a transfer,” the SGE announced around an hour before the game kicked off at 8:30 p.m. The Egyptian’s move to Manchester City appears to be close to completion.
The transfer of Marmoush to the English champions has been making the headlines on the Main for days. According to reports from The Athletic portal, both clubs reached a verbal agreement on a move on Thursday evening. Sky also reported on it and added that the Skyblues wanted to prevent Marmoush from playing against BVB as much as possible. There is a transfer fee of around 80 million euros.
Coach Dino Toppmöller announced on Thursday that the 25-year-old would “normally play” against BVB. Marmoush probably gave his farewell performance in Frankfurt last Tuesday. In the 4-1 (1-1) win against SC Freiburg, he said goodbye with one goal, two assists and a record: he was the first Frankfurter ever to score 15 goals in the first half of the season. He almost single-handedly led Eintracht to third place.
After one and a half unsuccessful years at Paris Saint-Germain, former Frankfurt player Randal Kolo Muani moved to the Italian record champions Juventus Turin. “I’m happy that Kolo Muani is coming,” said coach Thiago Motta in the press conference on Friday. However, the “bureaucratic formalities for the transfer” were still missing.
If the change works out in time, the French international Juve would be available for the home game against AC Milan (6 p.m./DAZN) on Saturday. “Otherwise we will have him from the next game,” said Motta.
After the start of the 2023/24 season and a training strike, Kolo Muani went from Frankfurt to PSG at the last minute for 95 million euros and signed a contract until 2028.
Claudio Ranieri, Mats Hummels’ coach at AS Roma, has announced that he will quit as coach of the Serie A club after this season. “The club will look for a new coach who can lead the team to the top of Italian and European football,” Ranieri told Italian broadcaster Rai Sport. “At the end of the season I will stop training. It’s time to say that’s it.”
The departure of the 73-year-old Ranieri is likely to be a turning point for Hummels. After his move in the summer, the ex-national player initially had a difficult start in Rome. Under Ranieri’s predecessor Ivan Juric, the 36-year-old Hummels hardly got a chance. Ranieri, now Roma’s third coach this season, is fully relying on the 2014 world champion, who has become a top performer.
