A brand new iPhone, tickets to the Walibi amusement park or gift vouchers from Douglas. According to a flyer, people between the ages of 13 and 19 could win this if they came to Diamantlaan 3 in Hoofddorp on December 21. It was not clear who the flyer came from.
On that date, a youth day was organized at that address, the church building and office of the River Church, as can be read on their Instagram page. Two children are said to have been baptized there. Fifteen children ‘gave their lives to Jesus’. It is not clear whether these children had already come to church, or whether there were also young people from outside the religious community.
‘Homohealing and exorcism’
NH reported at the end of last week already about the River Church. The church that came from America is rapidly recruiting new members, is said to be able to exorcise devils and perform medical miracles. An NH reporter also caught several signals that followers of the church would be ‘cured’ of their homosexuality.
Parents in the adjacent residential area Graan voor Visch are concerned about the church’s attempt at rapprochement. One of them anonymously told her story to NH. “My 15-year-old daughter walked back from the mailbox with that flyer in her hands and wondered what it was. When we looked up the address, we immediately knew what time it was.”
It is not known whether the flyer was distributed in other Hoofddorp neighborhoods in addition to Graan voor Visch.
