The new carnival hit by singer Jan Biggel from Boxtel is causing a stir on social media. According to many people, the song ‘My Grandma Die Has ‘n Stoma’ goes too far. The carnival artist says he wants to open the conversation about medical problems. “I’ll discuss it.”

“It is a controversial song. I have already had a lot of shit thrown at me,” says Jan, who himself had an uncle with a stoma.

People whose feces or urine no longer leave the body naturally will have a stoma. The bag at the front of the abdomen is attached to the intestine to collect stool.

“My uncle could curse that thing, but he could also make fun of it,” says Jan. With humor you can discuss annoying and sometimes uncomfortable matters, the singer thinks.

“I did not choose the easiest path, I realize that. But I do make the subject open for discussion,” says the carnival artist who previously scored a hit with the song ‘Ons Moeder zeej nog’.

“We met twice.”

However, Jan’s record label, Berk Music, initially had doubts about the song. “They met twice about it before we decided to release it.”

“Grandma, grandma, you deserve a diploma for this scent,” Jan sings in the song. Many people on social media are not happy about this.

“Songs can be fun, but not with diseases or with aids that are very difficult for many people,” someone writes on Facebook.

“Nothing to do with carnival.”

“Explain to them that this has nothing to do with carnival,” Geert writes. “Do you realize the misery that precedes it?” asks Maikel.

Yet Jan also receives positive reactions to his song. “Many people who have a stoma or nurses in hospitals can laugh at my song. You also experience very strange things with such a thing. What do you do? You laugh about it,” says the singer.

He can understand the criticism to some extent, but the singer will simply perform the song during carnival. “A comedian is allowed to talk about everything on stage and I’m not allowed to sing about this?”, Jan wonders.

In a well-stocked pub, Jan sings about his grandmother with a stoma.
