Richemont has defied the challenging global luxury goods environment.

The Swiss group Richemont, which includes brands such as Cartier, A. Lange & Söhne and Van Cleef & Arpels, increased sales in the third quarter more than expected to a record level.

Sales climbed in the three months to the end of December by 10 percent compared to the previous year to 6.15 billion euros. Analysts’ consensus from Visible Alpha had expected 5.6 billion. It was the highest quarterly sales in the group’s history.

On the Swiss SIX stock exchange, Richemont shares temporarily jumped 16.58 percent to 162.10 Swiss francs on Thursday.
