Ski racer Lena Dürr clearly missed her third podium finish of the winter at the night slalom in Flachau, Austria.

After a decent first round on Wednesday, the 33-year-old fell from fourth to tenth place. She was 1.26 seconds behind the day’s winner, Camille Rast from Switzerland.

In her second win of the season, Rast was 0.16 seconds ahead of her compatriot Wendy Holdener and the Swede Sara Hector (+0.38 seconds). For the first time since 2017, the victory in Flachau did not go to ski queen Mikaela Shiffrin or Slovakian Petra Vlhova, both of whom are currently out injured.

From a German perspective, Emma Aicher provided a ray of hope. The 21-year-old also fell from sixth to eighth place in the second round, but made it into the top ten for the third time this winter. Jessica Hilzinger and Roni Remme missed the second round.

Meanwhile, Dürr had to accept the next small setback in the penultimate slalom race before the World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm (February 4th to 16th). She was eliminated in the first round of the first slalom of the year in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia – previously the Munich woman had finished at least fifth in all races of the season and was on the podium twice.

Before the World Championships, at which the slalom specialists are scheduled to compete on February 15th, the dress rehearsal for the highlight of the season in Courchevel, France, is scheduled for January 30th.
