Owen Wijndal cannot play for Ajax for at least six weeks. That’s what coach Francesco Farioli said just before the cup match with AZ.

Wijndal was injured on Saturday in the final phase of the home match against RKC Waalwijk. The left back was one of the Ajax players who could look forward to another club this month. Technical director Alex Kroes thinks his club’s current selection is too large and wants to sell or rent at least four players.

Wijndal was in the interest of Spanish side Leganés, who will now be looking for a fit signing for the second half of the season.

Trainer Farioli expects Davy Klaassen to be back in his selection for the away match against SC Heerenveen on Sunday. Klaassen will miss the cup match with AZ due to a knee injury.
