Loris Karius returns to Germany

From now on he is a Schalke player: Loris Karius has signed with the second division club and is returning to Germany.
Most recently, goalkeeper Loris Karius was without a club. He is now returning to Germany after his last position at Newcastle United (2022 to 2024). The 31-year-old has signed a contract with Schalke 04 until the end of the season. The second division team announced this on Tuesday.
The signing of Karius was made possible because Ron-Thorben Hoffmann is leaving the club and moving to Eintracht Braunschweig on loan. The goalkeeper is moving to the league rivals for six months. If Eintracht keeps the class, a purchase obligation applies. Hoffmann’s contract at Schalke runs until June 30, 2028.
Schalke’s sporting director Youri Mulder explained in a statement from the club: “We didn’t want to see a loss in quality in the goalkeeping team after Ron-Thorben Hoffmann was loaned to Eintracht Braunschweig. We achieved this with the signing of Loris Karius.”
The professional himself says: “I had very good discussions with those responsible at Schalke and am looking forward to training with the team. Schalke 04 is a big club with passionate fans, I always felt that during my games in the arena.”
