Sanne Wallis de Vries would very much like to be asked for the traditional New Year’s Eve conference on NPO 1. “I certainly wouldn’t say ‘no’ if they asked me,” she says.
After Claudia de Breij, Micha Wertheim and Pieter Derks in the past three years, Sanne Wallis de Vries would find it a huge honor if it was now her turn to host the traditional New Year’s Eve conference on NPO 1. She has never been asked to to make a solo program on the last day of the year and she finds that a great shame.
Outside the box
Sanne likes that a newcomer was featured last New Year’s Eve with Pieter Derks. “As far as I’m concerned, that can become the new tradition, someone different every year. In that sense, it would be good if people thought outside the box,” she says in an interview with The Telegraph.
A new face every year would of course also suit Sanne. “I think there is an idea that the public broadcaster does what people expect. While I often think that they should do something where you take the lead and offer people something they don’t know yet.”

She was previously part of a fellow comedian’s New Year’s Eve conference. “In 2010 and 2012 I was part of the group that assisted Erik van Muiswinkel in the New Year’s Eve conference. That was different if you ask me, entertaining and funny.”
