Patients from the Jeroen Bosch Hospital in Den Bosch were transferred to Bernhoven hospital in Uden after a fire on Sunday night. The fire broke out around three o’clock at night and raged in the old building of the former Willem-Alexander Hospital, at the back of the site. There are no nursing wards in this part of the old building; support services are located there.
The fire brigade arrived quickly and, according to a spokesperson, was able to quickly control the fire. “There were no injuries and patients and the handful of employees working in this building were not affected by the smoke.”
Because a number of laboratories are also located in the affected building, it was questionable whether emergency diagnostics could take place there. For this reason, emergency patients were briefly taken to the Bernhoven Hospital in Uden. Emergency patients can now go to the JBZ again.

Tractors
The fire started in a room used for storage and containing, among other things, two tractors used for spreading in slippery conditions. A fire broke out in one of those tractors. How it could catch fire is being investigated.
The fire brigade had to saw open a roller door to get to the seat of the fire.
Care can continue
Due to the aftermath of the fire, a few office spaces cannot be used. The laboratories are still in operation.
According to the spokesperson, all care for the patients can continue as normal.
