Leevi Meriläinen was given a tough test and succeeded in it excellently.

Oulu watchman Leevi Meriläinen hit the hard screens on the counter in the bright lights of the NHL last weekend.

Meriläinen saved the first clean sheet of his career in the shirt of the Ottawa Senators, first against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

On the night between Sunday and Monday, he got between the posts again. The result was a 3–2 victory over the Dallas Stars. Meriläinen, who saved 24 times, was once again a celebrated hero. He was chosen as the best player of the match.

– This is just my job. It’s great to be here, Meriläinen smiled in a TV interview when he was asked about the events of the last day or so.

The Ottawa crowd went wild. The interview went viral, and Meriläinen’s calmness was celebrated in North America.

TSN channel expert Jamie McLellan agreed to praise after the Stars match. He reminded that many were waiting by Anton Forsberg repulsive on Sunday. The current trend is not to play the same goalie on consecutive days in the NHL.
