Anderlecht were immediately forced to chase at home, which received a new turf during the winter break. Ferran Jutgla headed Club ahead and thanked coach Nicky Hayen for the first starting place in the competition since the end of November. Anderlecht immediately responded, but Leander Dendoncker did not get a corner kick from close range.

The home team then had opportunities to erase its deficit, but strikers Anders Dreyer and Kasper Dolberg, among others, were unable to print. Jutgla succeeded on the other side, who scored his second of the evening from the clutch and gave Anderlecht a cold shower before half-time. The Purple & White seemed to be able to connect after all, but Francis Amuzu’s goal was disallowed for offside. Amuzu was taken away on a stretcher a little later after a serious collision with Joel Ordonez.

Anderlecht made little claim for a draw or victory after the break. The Purple & White tried, but were unable to outplay the visitors. Club Brugge was able to play football from an armchair and dug even deeper into the home team. Substitute Gustaf Nilsson initially decided to go high, but when he had the opportunity he headed the 3-0 against the ropes. Anderlecht no longer had an answer.

Club Brugge (44 points) is once again approaching within one point of leader Genk. Anderlecht is now fourth with 33 points.
