Suvi Minkkinen and Tero Seppälä hit the biggest skiing event of the winter at the Oberhof World Cup.

The Finns took first place in the mixed doubles relay ahead of France and Germany, the giants of the sport.

The success brings Minkkinen and Seppälä 13,000 euros, which will be divided in half.

A rare treat

Minkkinen, 30, has had a great run in the World Cup this season. Joutslainen has now been in the top ten nine times, including Sunday’s race in Oberhof.

The podium finish was Minkkinen’s second of the season and third of his career. In the Kontiolahti World Cup, which opened the season, he finished third in the sprint distance.

Seppälä, 28, competed in the World Cup for the 203rd time and got on the podium for the first time.
