Felix Magath became German champion three times as a coach. Most recently he saved Hertha BSC from relegation in 2022. Now Magath was probably in talks with a top club.
Instead of going to Unterhaching in the 3rd league, now to a top club in Turkey? As “Bild” reports, Felix Magath is on Besiktas Istanbul’s list. According to the report, there was even contact between Magath and Besiktas.
“There are many names regarding possible coaches, we had phone calls and video calls. I wouldn’t make such a decision without meeting in person,” Besiktas President Serdal Adali was quoted as saying by “Bild”.
Felix Magath was recently considered the new coach at Unterhaching (ex-Bundesliga star Heiko Herrlich has since taken over). The former master coach of FC Bayern and VfL Wolfsburg had turned down the bottom of the 3rd league because he lacked perspective.
Magath was most recently under contract with Hertha BSC and managed to stay in the league in 2022. Afterwards, however, he did not get another contract with the Berliners, who were now only second-class.
