Every year, tens of thousands of carnival enthusiasts try to get tickets for 3 Uurkes Vurraf, the kick-off of carnival in Brabant. You can get tickets by registering, but also by winning them at Omroep Brabant. Sisters Sophie and Malou achieved the latter on Saturday. They found reporter Mark Versteden in Haaren through hints in the radio program Graat& De Laat and won 11 tickets.
The very happy Malou tells how the search started:. “I was doing some shopping and heard on the radio that you could win tickets if you managed to find the reporter. I was quite close, so I pulled my sister off the couch and we went for a drive.” The first exit they took was immediately the right one. “We were really just starting to look.”
“Everyone wants to come with us.”
The two try to go to 3 Uurkes Vurraf every year. “Last year I also won tickets at Omroep Brabant,” says sister Sophie. “and the year before Malou also won.”
The sisters are overjoyed that they won. “That saves a lot of stress,” says Malou. The two are on a family day. “Many family members have already told us that they want to come. And we also receive a lot of messages from friends. Everyone wants to come with us.”
“We are real carnival lovers,” says Sophie. “When we were young we went with our parents and we celebrate it very exuberantly every year.” The sisters participate in the parade, party every evening and decorate the whole house. “It’s really chaos for a few days.”
“They are all people who love carnival very much.”
“We think it’s such a nice party,” says Malou. “3 Uurkes Vurraf consists entirely of people who love carnival very much. That makes it very nice.” Sophie and Malou will now think about what kind of suit they will wear. “That’s what I like about 3 Hours,” says Sophie. “The fact that almost everyone puts a lot of effort into their costume. That also inspires us to make something beautiful out of it.”
