Seelen explains that a tanker has two compartments. “One contained Amstel beer, the other Heineken. And the part containing Heineken beer started leaking. I had ordered Amstel, thank God it could be delivered.”
Fresh beer
The leak was a disaster for the driver. “The tank was completely empty and it was completely soaked,” says Seelen. “I felt sorry for him, we gave him a hot chocolate inside. He has been doing this job for 25 years and said he had never experienced this before. He drove back soaked from the beer.”
The beer leak attracted a lot of interest, countless people took a look. Seelen: “A girl put a glass under the spray and then drank it, she had a fresh beer.” During the afternoon the beer slowly disappeared from the Bloemendaalseweg. “But it still smells,” said the cafe owner.
