In Formula 1 there are several teams that want to attack at the front. Aston Martin is repositioning itself as a racing team.
Aston Martin is continuing to restructure its Formula 1 team. The current team boss Mike Krack will take on a new role in the future and will work directly on the racetrack as lead engineer. This means the racing team is making room for Andy Cowell, who previously worked as a top engineer at Mercedes.
As part of a restructuring, Cowell will bring the team closer to its goal of becoming “a championship contending team,” Aston Martin announced in a statement.
Last season Aston Martin finished fifth in the constructors’ championship. With considerable financial commitment, co-owner Lawrence Stroll, whose son Lance competes for the team together with two-time world champion Fernando Alonso, wants to attack the top positions in Formula 1. The racing team’s ambitions are supported, among others, by star designer Adrian Newey, who previously worked for Red Bull and now plays a central role in the team.
