The Russian government has approved a plan for the country’s development targets to be aimed for by 2030, Sport-Express news.

The Russian website writes that, surprisingly, a large part of the development projects is related to sports.

The state’s goal is to get rid of the international ban on athletes. Competing without country codes is an acceptable first step for Russia.

In addition, Russia wants to return to the top three in the Olympic medal table.

The last time it succeeded was in 2014, when the home games that turned out to be a doping fiasco were organized in Russia. The host country cleared the table of medals.

Sport-Express head of sports delivery Oleg Shamonayev glows in his story about the “glorious past and bright future” of Russian sports.

– We have huge potential. We know how big competitions are held, and our possible victories will be hard-earned, long-awaited and emotional, Shamonayev writes.
