Füllkrug has to leave the field injured – a compulsory break is imminent

At the beginning of December, Niclas Füllkrug returned from a long injury. Now he is threatened with the next forced break.
What had happened? Füllkrug sprinted after the ball two minutes earlier, then remained lying on the pitch without any outside influence and grabbed his thigh.
The 31-year-old signaled to the “Hammers” bench that he could not continue. When going into the dressing room, the ex-Dortmunder even had to be supported by two carers. West Ham were leading 1-0 at the time thanks to a goal from Lucas Paqueta in the 9th minute. After 90 minutes, the scoreboard read 2-1 for Villa.
It is not yet clear how long Füllkrug will be missing from his club. But he may face a long outage. What was particularly bitter was that Füllkrug only sustained an injury to his Achilles tendon in September 2024 and was out for months. After his return in December, he contributed two goals and an assist.
