Fresh from the rags, King’s Commissioner Jetta Klijnsma today gave a speech at the New Year’s reception of the province of Drenthe. In it, she expressed out loud her concerns about international developments, called on the cabinet to be more decisive and looked ahead to ‘Liberation Year 2025’.
First of all, the most important thing: how is Klijnsma’s health, who broke her hip more than two months ago? “I’m still recovering a bit,” says Klijnsma from her electric wheelchair. “I already had difficult legs and now have to learn to walk again with a walker. In any case, I am happy that the wheelchair exists.”
She also looked back on King’s Day 2024 in Emmen, where the anticipation and involvement continued. But the precarious financial situation of the twelve Drenthe municipalities is also discussed. “It is time for this cabinet to make decisions and deploy resources. So that we finally get solutions for PAS detectors, railway lines and housing.”
In the context of 80 years of freedom, the province has also come up with the slogan ‘On whatever grounds’. What that means and what else Klijnsma talked about can be seen in the video below.
