Jamal Musiala is set to extend his contract with FC Bayern. But the negotiations are dragging on. Now the reason comes to light.

FC Bayern Munich and Jamal Musiala are continuing to negotiate a possible contract extension. A central point of contention: a possible exit clause in the three-digit million range, which the player and his team apparently want to integrate into the new contract.

As “Sport Bild” reports, the Musiala camp is seeking a clause that would allow the national player to move for around 175 million euros – especially if the 21-year-old agrees to a long-term five-year contract. However, the record champions want to prevent such a clause, it is said. The pay TV broadcaster Sky had already published similar information.

The offensive star’s current contract runs until 2026. Nevertheless, the Munich-based team is pushing to extend the collaboration at an early stage – not least in order to bind Musiala to the club in the long term and put a stop to a possible move to another top club.

Sports director Max Eberl commented on the ongoing discussions on Monday. “We will continue to speak calmly with the players and agents,” said the 51-year-old. Even if decisions are desirable, people don’t want to put pressure on them. “I will continue to set no time limits,” said Eberl.

Jamal Musiala is one of the most sought-after stars in world football. The German international moved from Chelsea’s youth team to FC Bayern’s academy in 2019. He has been playing for the Munich first team since 2020. This season, Musiala collected 20 scorer points (14 goals, six assists) in 22 games across all competitions.
