Lena Dürr was a long way from a top placement during Sara Hector’s dominant victory in the World Cup giant slalom in Kranjska Gora – but after finishing 25th, the 33-year-old quickly turned her attention to her specialist discipline.

“I’m really looking forward to the slalom. The atmosphere is great, the slopes are sensational,” said Dürr on “ARD”.

On Sunday (10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.) Dürr is considered one of the top favorites in the slalom. She has already made it to the podium twice this season. Dürr also came second in the slalom in Kranjska Gora last winter. She takes these “positive memories” with her.

At the giant slalom on Saturday, Olympic champion Hector rode in her own league in the absence of superstar Mikaela Shiffrin, who remains injured.

The Swede clearly triumphed in her seventh World Cup victory ahead of the 18-year-old Lara Colturi (Albania/+1.42 seconds) and Alice Robinson from New Zealand (+1.52). The favorite Federica Brignone was eliminated in the first round after a fall.

Emma Aicher finished 24th, 4.56 seconds behind.

Dürr complains about slipperiness

Dürr was 4.75 seconds behind. “It was very smooth. I wasn’t consistent enough. That bothers me a bit,” she said. Jana Fritz fell in the first run, Fabiana Dorigo clearly missed the second run.

Aicher also immediately focused on the slalom. The 21-year-old has already attracted attention this winter with two top 10 placements. Aicher announced that she wanted to go “full throttle.”
