Antwerp mother (49) loses son Jack (14) in a fireworks accident on New Year’s Eve in Rotterdam: “I blindly trusted my child with fireworks”

14-year-old Jack, who died while setting off fireworks in Rotterdam on New Year’s Eve, was the youngest child of Antwerp Renate Degryse (49). “I trusted Jack implicitly with fireworks, because fireworks were his passion and he knew everything about them,” she says, brokenly. “But who sells poorly constructed fireworks to children?”
