The whole of Drenthe is celebrating New Year’s Eve tonight and Veenoord is no different. The youth do this together at the shack.
About thirty to forty young people, older young people and even younger young people gather at the village shack, which is actually a truck trailer, on the grounds of Poultry Farm Bril. And they have a very substantive program there: lighting a fire, drinking beer and carbide shooting.
And that carbide shooting is done with many guns at the same time. The lid and balls are shot into a rigged net, because safety comes first in Veenoord.
