At the end of the Two Nights Tour on Wednesday (01/01/2025) in Oberstdorf, the German ski jumpers missed the jump on the podium despite a promising position at the halfway point. The winner of the day is also the overall winner.

The Slovenian Nika Prevc won the competition after a strong second jump of 134.5 meters and secured overall victory in the Two Nights Tour for the second time. Second and third place on the Schattenbergschanze went to Anna Odine Ström and Erin Maria Kvandal from Norway.

Selina Freitag, the leader, fell back to fifth place after the first round. Katharina Schmid came fourth. Agnes Reisch again showed a strong performance and came in seventh place, Juliane Seyfarth finished the competition in 16th place.

National coach Kuttin had flirted with a podium

“It was close twice now that we could make it to the podium. We did very well in the individual jumps. But they probably really wanted it and that was in the back of their minds. And then you saw that with small ones “If you make any mistakes, you’re right off the podium.”said national coach Heinz Kuttin, who once again emphasized the team performance. He also once again explicitly highlighted Reisch’s performance.

“I’ve trained well over the last few weeks. I knew that I was good at ski jumping. The fact that I can now show such strong jumps here in the competition is really great.”Reisch was happy about the second top 10 placement in the World Cup of her career.

The Two Nights Tour is something like the scaled-down counterpart to the Four Hills Tournament. The women continue to fight for “jump equality” and hope to soon be able to compete on the traditional facilities in Innsbruck and Bischofshofen. Behind Prevc, Kvandal and Schmid finished second and third in the overall standings. Freitag came fourth, Reisch seventh overall.

Friday first and last jumper

Friday’s competition opened with a knockout duel against her teammate Juliane Seyfarth. While Freitag took the lead with 131 meters and held it until the end of the round, Seyfarth (116.5 m) was able to secure a place in the final via the lucky losers.

Reisch, who achieved her best World Cup result with fourth place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, easily made it into the final with 121 meters. Schmid won the qualification in the afternoon and was the last jumper off the beam. She also defied the difficult conditions and came third after 130.5 meters. However, she could not confirm this and landed at 123.5 meters on her second jump. With that she fell off the podium.

Freitag was the last jumper at the top, but struggled with the tailwind and ended up at 120 meters. So she has to wait for her first World Cup victory. Reisch confirmed her strong form and showed a set of 129.5 meters in the final. That left her seventh. Seyfarth fell two places in the second round and finished the competition in 16th place.

Four DSV jumpers fail in the qualification

The fact that only four jumpers from the German Ski Association (DSV) ultimately made it into the knockout duels was due to the mixed qualifications, in which, in contrast to the regular World Cups, only 30 instead of 40 athletes made it into the competition. Not everyone was able to cope with the changing conditions in the Allgäu Arena. Ultimately it wasn’t enough for Alivine Holz (94 m/37th), Pia Lilian Kübler (98 m/41st), Emely Torazza (87 m/44th) and Anna-Fay Scharfenberg (88 m/54th).
