The 2025 Formula 1 season is already being eagerly awaited. Will Max Verstappen win his fifth title in a row? Will Red Bull be left behind by Ferrari and McLaren again? What does Lewis Hamilton show for the Reds? And what about a podium for Nico Hülkenberg? An insider believes: Fans can expect a few surprises.
Only a few in Formula 1 orbit believe that there will be a major shift in the balance of power for the 2025 season. The regulations remain the same, so there is little to “tweak” on the cars. There is much to suggest that the teams are investing less this year and are dedicating themselves to the 2026 generation of the completely renewed cars at an early stage.
Long-time Formula 1 insider and journalist Lawrence Barretto is still convinced that the World Championship rankings will look different this year. In his big season forecast for “formula1.com” he predicts, among other things, two new world champions.
Will there be two new Formula 1 world champions in 2025?
The new driver champion will be Lando Norris. “I’m going to stay on the hype train and say he’s going to move up one spot and win the whole damn thing,” Barretto said. The McLaren driver still gets in his own way from time to time, “but he found new self-confidence in himself towards the end of the preseason, which will be crucial this year,” said the insider.
Barretto also believes there is a breath of fresh air in the constructor rankings. Here he sees Ferrari ahead this year. The “destructive” driver combination Leclerc/Hamilton will make the difference and bring the first team title to Maranello since 2008, the journalist wrote.
Hülkenberg on the Formula 1 podium? Perhaps!
Barretto also predicts a fourth spring for Fernando Alonso. His thesis: The Spaniard will win at least one race in 2025. “She [Aston Martin] “We should have made such a big step that they will give Alonso a chance to show that he’s still got it at 43 on a weekend when all the stars align.”
The insider can also imagine a very similar “gift” for Nico Hülkenberg. Barretto believes that by 2025 more than half of the riders will be on the podium at least once. In his eyes, the German could be one of them.
“You shouldn’t write off Nico Hülkenberg if it’s about finally getting a trophy after 227 starts,” the insider wrote.
