The fire brigade hopes that some companies can be saved from the very large fire on the Industrieweg in Deurne. Earlier this morning, the fire brigade reported that a ‘burn down scenario’ was being taken into account. Then it seemed that the entire business complex would be lost.
Many fireworks remains were found near the building, but it is unclear whether the fire was caused by fireworks. According to a police spokesperson, it is ‘still far too early’ to make this link, she said when asked around ten o’clock. “But an initial observation seems to rule out fireworks as the cause, but it is too early to draw definitive conclusions. We are working on site together with the fire brigade. The building is now too unstable to enter. .”
The fire broke out around a quarter past seven in a room above a tanning salon. Flames soon erupted from the roof across the full width of the building. There is a very strong wind, which makes extinguishing the fire difficult.
“If we had not called, the entire building would have been lost.”
The fire was discovered by a woman who was cycling past in the early morning and saw smoke coming from the building. “If she had not called, the entire building would have been lost,” fire officials said.
It was previously reported that the fire started at Janssens Kassasystemen, which is located on one of the sides of the complex. This business only suffered smoke damage, but the owner was beaten. Shelter has been arranged for him and other victims in a garage showroom.
Nothing is known about the cause. The fire may have been caused by fireworks.

It is not clear whether anyone was injured. The fire released so much smoke that nearby businesses are asked to keep windows and doors closed. It is also advised to avoid smoke. A NL Alert has been sent about this.
Specialized help from Limburg
The help of the SBE from Limburg has been requested. This Specialist Fire Fighting Unit has the knowledge, skills and resources to support local fire brigades in fighting complex fires. Members of this SBE are deployed, among other things, to fight fire from within. It has now also been decided to demolish part of the building, and a company has already been engaged for this purpose.
The fire in Deurne is difficult for the local fire brigade to tackle, because it is raging in a business complex. This includes several companies without fire-resistant partitions, including a perfume store, a wellness studio and a driving school.
The fire brigade is present with, among other things, two aerial platforms and a number of fire engines.
