Does Zalando shorten the return period from 100 to 30 days?

Does Zalando’s long return period end? In an email to customers, the Berlin online retailer says that the return deadline will be changed after January 7, 2025, but a small survey shows that this email was only sent to Dutch customers.

Orders placed on or after January 7th have a thirty day return policy. Previously there was a deadline of one hundred days. Returns remain free, according to the email.

“Free returns have been an important part of our service promise since the beginning,” Zalando told FashionUnited. “We want to offer our customers a great shopping experience by bringing the fitting room to their home. This means customers can order several items, try them on at home and only keep and pay for what really fits and pleases.”

“As a customer-centric company, we regularly research what is important to our customers. We’ve found that more than 90% of our customers return within 30 days. A shorter return period ensures that items are available to other customers more quickly. Since this change has little impact on our customers’ shopping behavior but improves their experience, we have decided to adjust our returns policy in the Netherlands. This adjustment also offers the opportunity to test new functions that make shopping at Zalando even easier. We are confident that this change will be beneficial for all of our customers.”

It is currently uncertain whether a similar change will also follow in Germany.
