On December 20 and 21 there were flushes suspicious packages to various beaches in North Holland, including Egmond and Bergen.

It was also two weeks before that packages washed up on the Wadden Islands, including Texel. These have been examined separately.

‘A few dozen blocks’

Photos show that the latest finds washed ashore in Bergen involved blocks as large as two bricks. “Customs have confirmed to us that it concerns cocaine,” a police spokesperson now told NH. According to him, it covers ‘several dozen blocks’. Nothing more will be disclosed about the exact quantity and location, because it concerns so-called perpetrator information.

No one has been arrested yet. According to the police, this is difficult because there are hardly any clues on the packages.

Beaches cleared

According to the police, the drugs that washed up were destroyed.

An emergency order applied to the beaches of Bergen and Egmond for a number of days. Police and enforcement could easily send visitors away. Parts of the beach were cleared in order to conduct proper research.

The spokesperson emphasizes that it is a criminal offense to possess hard drugs. “If you find an unattended package, do not open it. Do not take any risks and call 112.”
