In the second group game of the United Cup, the German tennis team is ahead 1-0 against China. Alexander Zverev won his singles against Zhizhen Zhang.
However, the top German player had some trouble on Monday (December 30, 2024), as he clearly lost the first set 2:6. Then he increased significantly. The following two sets went to Zverev 6:2 and 6:2.
Siegemund now against Gao
In the second singles, Laura Siegemund meets Xinyu Gao. Afterwards there is the mixed doubles, in which Siegemund and Zverev will play for Germany. If the DTB selection wins, it will finish first in Group E, as Brazil was defeated 3-0 at the start.
The six group winners and the two best runners-up qualify for the quarter-finals on New Year’s Day. Zverev triumphed at the last edition together with Angelique Kerber, who has since resigned, and Siegemund.
