      Ammann is thrown out

Simon Ammann caused a negative surprise after an already mixed home World Cup in Engelberg. The veteran didn’t even manage to qualify in 51st place in the relatively small starting field of 62 athletes. Dawid Kubacki from Poland was also surprisingly thrown out. Things went better for the current top of the Swiss team. Gregor Deschwanden finished a good seventh, while Killian Peier demonstrated his improving form in tenth. Felix Trunz came through the qualification in 47th place and has to compete against Hörl today.

      Paschke stays tuned

Pius Paschke, who is traveling to the Four Hills Tournament as the World Cup leader, was also able to fulfill his task in the qualification. He took sixth place behind the overpowering Austrians. Adrian Tittel, the youngest member of the DSV team, has to compete against Paschke today after he was 45th in the qualification. Karl Geiger and Andreas Wellinger qualified in positions nine and 13. Stephan Leyhe and Philipp Raimund had to settle for positions 33 and 39 and were therefore assigned a stronger opponent in the first round.

25 duels in the first round

The Four Hills Tournament follows its proven and unique knockout mode, which makes ski jumping particularly exciting. In the first round, the jumpers compete in 25 duels, from which the winners advance directly to the second round. But not everything is lost for the losers either: the five best losers, the so-called “lucky losers”, also qualify for the final round. The pairings for the duels will be determined in the qualification. The winner of the qualification will face 50th place, the runner-up will face 49th place and so on.
