Milano, 27 December (askanews) – Parties are often synonymous with family, conviviality, lunches and dinners in company. To experience the possible excesses of these days with greater serenity both physically and emotionally, especially when you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant, you can follow some advice drawn up by Dr. Mauro Cozzolinospecialist in Reproductive Medicine at the IVI Center in Rome.
Relaxation is very important: there is no scientific evidence that there is a better period than another for conception, but the relaxed atmosphere of the holidays certainly helps. Taking advantage of this moment of detachment from the frenetic pace of the daily routine to enjoy family and serenity will be of great benefit for conception but also for mental health in general.
In order not to give in to the excesses of the table, it is possible to indulge in the classic “treats” only during the most important holidays; on other days it will be best to respect a balanced and healthy diet, without preparatory fasting or drastic choices to compensate for binges. A tip is also to reduce the portions of each course and chew slowly.
It is important not to forget good hygiene practices and foods to avoid even on holiday: wash vegetables and fruit to be consumed raw (including pre-prepared salads) well before handling and consuming. Consume foods rich in group B vitamins. The B6 vitamins present in spinach, legumes and potatoes, in addition to being correlated with an increased chance of conception and a lower risk of miscarriage, promote the development of the baby’s nervous system.
Vitamins B12, present mainly in meat, fish, milk and eggs, have a fundamental function in the production of red blood cells and in the development of bone marrow. Yes to foods sources of good fats, undisputed friends of fertility, such as extra virgin olive oil, avocado, coconut, olives, oilseeds and dried nuts, organic eggs, oily fish and wild salmon, rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
Finally, don’t let yourself get caught up in laziness: what matters is to train in moderation, but with consistency, it is sufficient to treat yourself to a few hours in the open air, carrying out moderate intensity activities such as a brisk walk or a nice bike ride.
