Liam Lawson revealed what really happened at the F1 drivers’ dinner.

Max Verstappen and George Russell were in a fierce war of words during the rest of the season. PDO

At the end of the season, the F1 drivers sat down for a joint dinner in Abu Dhabi.

Photos from the event were shared on social media. Based on them, the brawlers for the rest of the season Max Verstappen and George Russell sat at different ends of the table.

Liam Lawson revealed however Pit stopon the podcastthat it was not the original seating arrangement. The drivers tried to put Russell next to Verstappen.

Russell was the last to arrive at the restaurant. Before that, the other drivers had intentionally filled the table so that the only free seat was next to Verstappen.

– When George arrived, everyone greeted him and Max said: “Hey, we’ve saved you a seat.”

According to Lawson, everyone was amused by the situation except for Russell, who said nothing.

– George took a chair, walked to the other end of the table and sat down of Lewis [Hamilton] beside.

The F1 drivers thought it would be a funny joke, but the situation turned out to be really embarrassing for Russell.

– We thought it would be fun, but it wasn’t fun. Or it was fun for the rest of us, Lawson laughed.

The dinner cost about 5,145 euros. I’m going to piss you off Valtteri Bottas.
