Sports journalism is mourning the passing of Gian Paolo Ormezzano. Already director of Tuttosport (from 1974 to 1979), signature of La Stampa until his retirement in 1991 (but he continued to collaborate), of Guerin Sportivo and Famiglia Cristiana, he was 89 years old.

In his long career he witnessed and wrote about the main sporting events (and not only), from the Rome Games to the moon landing, followed as a correspondent at Cape Canaveral, from the terrorist attack at the 1972 Munich Games to the world triumph of the Azzurri of Bearzot in 1982. He was also a commentator on TV and author of novels and essays, including “Giro d’Italia con delitto” and “La fine del champion”, as well as the three volumes “Storia of cycling” (winner of the Bancarella Sport), “History of athletics” and “History of football”. He was a huge Torino fan. He leaves behind his wife and three children.
