Roxy Dekker has not yet responded to Eva Jinek’s request to join her talk show table. And it is the presenter’s fervent wish to snare the hit sensation…
Anyone who books Yves Berendse for thirty minutes will soon discover that he is his set mainly filled with his two big hits: he sings them at the beginning and then again at the end, because you can’t exactly sing along to the rest of his repertoire. Roxy Dekker does have more than two hits, but she has another problem: those songs barely last 2 minutes.
Roxy isn’t coming
Roxy’s hits are all ultra-short, but that works great with the TikTok generation, who have the attention span of a goldfish. Her biggest hit is Sugardaddy with already 65 million streams on Spotify, followed by Satisfyer (52 million) and Gaan We Weg (35 million). She is a mega success and so the talk shows are also after her.
Lately, Eva has been doing an incredible amount with Dutch music and that is not only because she is an AvroTros face these days, but also because her son Pax loves homegrown songs. Lately we have been seeing artists from this genre sitting at her table all the time, but who hasn’t been yet? Roxy Dekker.
Crazy about Roxy
Pax, Eva’s 6-year-old son, is a mega fan of Roxy. “I think my son can really sing along to every Roxy Dekker song,” she says on the radio station Sterren.nl.
Is Eva happy with ‘Satisfyer’? “He listens now too. I have not yet explained that word in more detail, but I was not asked about it either. He’s 6. He wasn’t asked about that. But it’s a very nice song. We love Roxy.”
“Come to me!”
Eva hopes that Roxy will change her mind after all. “I really want Roxy to come into my program one day, so we hope for that and I have promised Paxy: if Roxy comes, I will smuggle him into the studio and he can see her.”
Then she speaks directly to her: “Dear Roxy, don’t be angry with me for putting so much pressure on you, but it would be really great if you would come over sometime. We’ll roll out the red carpet for you and Paxy — I can’t show you a picture of him right now — is your biggest fan, believe me, and he would love it too.”
To spoil
Eva really likes that Pax is so crazy about Dutch music. “If I really want to spoil him, and myself too, we get in the car together and then I open the windows and do Tino Martin really hard. Pax is then sitting at the back right, singing along loudly out of the window.”
In other words: Tino is also expected in Eva’s talk show. Soon we will be watching a light version of Music Festival on the Square.
