In the large greenhouse in the middle of the campsite, guests can warm up by the wood stove. There is a kitchenette and a table. Diek is preparing their brunch with Bloesem and Madelief. Her dog Ronja happily roams around the room.

“If I may be honest, we don’t like Christmas at all,” says Diek. She is camping at the campsite for the second time during the holidays. “Last night we went to a Christmas dinner with my son. That was very nice, but now it’s wonderful here again. The Christmas decorations here, for example, are very subtle. No exaggerated fuss.”

Beautiful in the dark

“We don’t want to put everything in the spotlight,” adds Gidus Hopmans. “It is so beautiful that it is very dark here. Then you can enjoy the starry sky.” Bloesem agrees. She spent the first night in a tent, but found it a bit cold and crawled into Diek’s warm camper the next morning.

“It’s so nice here. You could see the stars beautifully and during the day you can chop wood and make a fire. That’s so much fun.”
