We hear all kinds of things in the media about fake Noa, but now Linda de Mol’s son is also getting the brunt: Julian Vahle, as he is called, is receiving a fair share of fake criticism. “Unjust!”

If your mother’s name is Linda de Mol, many doors will open for you inside and outside the family business. Noa Vahle (24) knows all about it; She hasn’t even scratched the surface yet and she’s already looking like a mini-Hélène Hendriks everywhere. But in the meantime, Linda has also brought another child to the world: Julian Vahle (27).

Wheelbarrow

Also a fake baby, sneers media critic Victor Vlam. Juliab is partly behind the song that Martin Morero, a character from Mama’s series Gooische Vrouwen, now has such a hit with: Regret for Later. “I think that’s a funny illustration of how the Hilversum wheelbarrow works,” says Victor in the podcast The Communicados.

Julian is a music producer. “He also created the tune for the program De Bondgenoot, which is also broadcast and produced by Talpa. He has also had a role in The Voice in the past, at The Comeback Stage. And now he gets the chance to produce this song.”

Big chance

He owes it all to his billionaire family, according to Victor. “It is of course an advantage that you do not have if you do not come from that family. If his surname had not been Vahle and he had not been the son of Linda de Mol and the nephew of John de Mol, there was a very good chance that he would not have been allowed to write this song.”

Co-host Lars Duursma: “No, then he wouldn’t have made such a successful song.”

Victor: “No, exactly, exactly. Getting these kinds of opportunities is very difficult in Hilversum and they are very scarce. A lot of people don’t get it, but he gets it all.”

Unfair

What does Victor think? “It’s just unfair somehow. This is of course something that a lot of music producers probably don’t like hearing because they’re all fighting over it. It’s an incredibly competitive business, isn’t it, the music world. The entire entertainment world is of course extremely competitive.”

“There are people who have worked very hard, but do not have the right contacts and therefore ultimately do not get these kinds of opportunities. I can imagine that for people like that it feels extremely unfair that someone like Julian Vahle is given opportunity after opportunity after opportunity, while he doesn’t have the resume to justify all those opportunities.”

Nepotism

There really is too much nepotism in celebrity country, Victor thinks. “I’m always surprised how much nepotism there is in Hilversum, in one form or another. Of course, it was recently in the news that the editor-in-chief of RTL Boulevard is the niece of Albert Verlinde. But Matthijs van Nieuwkerk’s discoverer is also the mother of Peter Pannekoek.”

He concludes: “You really need qualities to move forward, but if you have a well-known father or mother who is already in the world and has a lot of success in it, they can give you a stepping stone from which you will benefit.”
