Holstein Kiel has secured the first Bundesliga newcomer of the 2024/25 winter transfer window. On Christmas Eve, the newcomer announced the signing of David Zec. The 24-year-old central defender is moving to the Fjord from NK Celje in Slovenia and has signed a long-term contract, the exact term of which was not provided.
“With David Zec, we were able to sign an experienced central defender for our defensive team,” said Carsten Wehlmann, KSV Sports Director, about the transfer. “We are convinced that David will quickly take on responsibility thanks to his extensive experience and will help our team immediately.”
Zec played for Benfica Lisbon between 2018 and 2021, but was only used for the second team. At the beginning of the year he made his international debut for Slovenia in a 1-0 friendly against the USA. “I am really looking forward to the big challenge of the Bundesliga, which I will tackle with great energy together with my new team. My goal is to get to know everything here as quickly as possible and to get involved from day one.”
